We have partnered with the ASPCA to provide the loving forever-home to 21 goats who desperately need one. Among the dead and dying of what is being called the largest animal-cruelty case in the Northeast, all 21 of our beautiful new friends were rescued and brought to live with us. While they once lived in terror along with many other species of animals, all in deplorable conditions, they will now get to live the rest of their lives knowing nothing but care.
Please read more about the case here.
They have already received an overwhelming amount of love from the individuals who have met them so far. Read below for a bio on each of our 21 goats! Your generous sponsorship of these animals will help us continue to provide lifelong care in the form of food, shelter, and veterinary costs, among other expenses.
Angel is quite the heartbreaker! At less than 20 pounds when he arrived, he is still the smallest of his herd. We can’t help ourselves when it comes to belly rubs, and he doesn’t seem to mind them either!
Bubblegum was the weakest of our goats after the terrible conditions he lived his past life in. But with lots of care, affection, and goodies, Bubblegum is getting much better (although it’s hard to imagine how he could possibly get any sweeter)!
Captain Sparrow is named after the pirate because of his deformed front leg, which must have grown incorrectly after an injury during his time at the abusive farm he was rescued from. Although it looks painful, Captain Sparrow grazes and hangs out with his brother Dos Equis without a complaint. We’ll continue to provide veterinary care to find the best fix for his leg!
Clarice gets her name from It’s A Wonderful Life after she arrived at the sanctuary with a bell around her neck. Although this bell may have been malice when she was at her old abusive farm, the joyful ringing of her arrival immediately found us saying “every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.” While Clarice no longer wears her bell, we can’t deny that she’s an angel!
Dos Equis is Captain Sparrow’s best friend, and if they aren’t biological brothers they certainly should be! Whenever Captain Sparrow needs to take a break because of his leg, Dos Equis is right there with him. And Dos Equis is always ready to get some love from the humans as well!
Elvis is a good boy, and funny too! Ever since his first hours at the sanctuary, Elvis’ favorite place to lounge around is in an empty kiddie pool in their yard. He always looks for good locations to lay down, like under cars or on tables!
Fawn is small compared to the other males, so he gets to spend his time with our cute baby goats! Although Fawn is still very shy of people, he always takes care of the babies when they’re in their barn at night.
Giselle is starting to warm up to her humans here at the sanctuary! Although she had a rough start while transitioning from her previous life of abuse, we decided she needed a glamorous name for the glamorous girl we know she is!
Jasper is the biggest of the bunch – but don’t let his big horns and long beard intimidate you! Jasper is one of the friendliest and outgoing goats, and enjoys all the attention he gets as a crowd favorite!
Mama is a big girl with a big heart! Among her favorite things are head rubs, just put your hand out and she’ll do the rest. Momma had a secret when she arrived and was lucky enough to have her last two babies here at Tamerlaine Farm. She will never have her babies taken away from her again and the whole family will spend the rest of their lives together in sanctuary.
Named after Indiana Jones, little Indy was living all alone in the woods where her previous owner had dumped her. She was as wild as a deer and so scared when she first arrived. As soon as she saw the herd of goats that would soon become her friends she calmed down immediately. A little shy of humans still she has many goat friends now and is happy and safe.
